Not only was the fight with Mother a lot cooler than the fight with Rais, but the endings were much more conclusive. I liked these endings way more than the base game ending (and I actually liked the base game plot unlike a lot of other people). Basically in Prototype 2 the whole plot involved your character trying to kill the main character from the first game. If it was some new character with no connection to Kyle the plot would be like the game Prototype 2. If we played as another character they would need to know Kyle in order for Kyle being the bad guy to even have any impact (Brekken maybe?). If we play as Kyle it'd be interesting because, like the mother, he should be himself during the day (mentally at least), and a monster at night and that'd be an interesting dynamic especially if he meets anybody he knew while human. If they go with the volatile ending then it depends if they have us play as Kyle or another character. A sequel following that ending would obviously need a new locale and characters. If they mention Kyle blowing up the nuke that'd be a huge plothole. Honestly if they continued the story nobody really knows what Kyle did, especially in the nuke ending because everyone there would be dead.

That's the Bioshock route, in the 2nd Bioshock you could hear some of the enemies arguing about what happened to the main character from the first game and they bring up both endings. Tried to create a weapon out of it, used it on Ministry territory (since they seem to be opposing each other) and created another outbreak. Since crane had almost no contact with the slums or old town since the following dlc began I'd say that the GRE extracted The doctor who was working on a cure without crane noticing.

I'd honestly rather see them work on a sequel that delves into the GRE and the Ministry and a possible outbreak after Harran. I'd like maybe some new skins or weapons or blueprints but otherwise nothing really stands out to me like it needs a dlc. If crane nuked harran then perhaps a volatile already escaped before it went off.Īs long as a sequel doesn't specifically state crane blew it all up or the antagonist is called volikyle then it's up to the player to interpret it based off their own choices.Īs far as DLCs are concerned though. If you picked crane becoming a volatile, then maybe someone else also detonated the nuke. Crane becoming a volatile or detonating the nuke doesn't really matter.

Id like to see a sequel take place outside of harran and uses both of those endings. and throw the whole "In the Apocalypse there aren't good endings." argument around, but eeey- Kyle Crane :( Whaaaaaaaiiii throws fangirl fit Now I know these days people seem to dig bad endings and hopelessness, etc. You tried very hard NOT to get the city blown up. In particular the nuke one made no sense whatsoever (except it really feels like an Easter egg, anyway). To me, these endings smell a bit like they wanted to draw a clean line with Kyle's story and level the slate for something new.Īnd since I get very attached to the characters I spend a lot of time with, it was disappointing that they'd chose a futile ending, rather than something that brings closure on a positive note. Whether you pick the secret ending or the actual conclusion that results in a Volakyle, at the end of the day everything he's done is nullified. Worse, once the DLC is finished all the hard work he put into it (and the player did as well) is lost. They even ended the main Campaign with a silver lining.

Instead he brought a small measure of hope to the people in the Tower. He sacrificed his own life already by staying in Harran, rather than carrying out the GRE's orders and being able to return home (and maybe even receiving a cure, since the GRE did have to save face for their intentions leaking). The only reason I do not like it is the complete futility of everything Kyle did before.
